Day Camp for Boys

                                                                    

The Program:  YMCA Camp Abnaki offers a week-long day camp program for boys ages 6-10.  It is designed to provide campers with opportunities to learn new skills while making friends and experiencing the best of what camp has to offer.  Each day, campers participate in archery, waterfront activities, arts & crafts, small group games, and much more. 

 

The ScheduleThe day at camp for day campers begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m.  Parents dropping off or picking up at camp should plan to be there between 8:45-9:00 a.m. and 4:15-4:30 p.m.  The bus is scheduled to arrive/depart  Camp Abnaki at those times.  The camper schedule each day is:

9:00-9:15             Morning Meeting.  A quick check-in and overview of the day.

9:15-10:00           Archery.  A daily chance to experience the most requested activity at camp

10:00-10:05        Morning Snack.  Time to recharge the batteries for the rest of the morning.

10:05-10:45        Group Game.   Day campers engage in popular games, including games like tag, nuke 'em, and more.

10:45-12:00        Camp Favorites Rotation.  A chance to try other popular camp activities, such as climbing and field sports.

12:00-12:30        Lunch.  Campers eat lunch family-style in our dining hall with the resident campers.

12:30-1:40          Waterfront Rotation.  Activities include swimming, canoeing, and more.

1:40-2:40            Arts & Crafts.  Campers express their creative side and new learn skills from our Arts & Crafts Coordinator.

2:40-2:45            Afternoon Snack.  Active kids get another opportunity to get an afternoon boost.

2:50-4:00            Nature and Camp Craft.  Campers learn about the nature around camp, enjoy campfires, and more.

4:00-4:15            Afternoon Meeting.  A quick review of the day and chance to get ready for pick-up.

                

TransportationFor 2010, Camp Abnaki is offering transportation to and from camp for day campers.  Each day, a bus with a member of the Camp Abnaki staff will travel from the Chimney Corners Park & Ride in Milton through the Islands and up to camp.  Parents can also choose to drop off or pick up their sons directly at camp.  See the registration form for more details.  We are offering transportation in partnership with YWCA Camp Hochelaga. The 2010 bus schedule is:

The bus will also stop at YWCA Camp Hochelaga at 8:25 a.m. and 5:05 p.m., but that stop is not available for Camp Abnaki camper pick up or drop off.

Session Dates and RatesDay Camp is available for eight 1-week sessions.  Each session runs Monday through Friday.  Cost for each week is $175.  Financial assistance is available.  Click here for the financial aid application.  The 2010 session dates are:

DC 1: June 28-July 2

DC 2:  July 5-9

DC 3:  July 12-16

DC 4:  July 19-23

DC 5:  July 26-30

DC 6:  August 2-6

DC 7:  August 9-13

DC 8:  August 16-20

 

Registration:  Registration is on a first come basis.  A $25 deposit per registered session is required at the time of registration.  Online registration is not available for day camp.  Download  the registration form here or contact the camp office at (802) 862-8993 ext. 129 to request more information by mail.
