Jon
Kuypers, Camp Director
Jon
has been involved in YMCA Camping
since his
first 4 weeks at YMCA Camp Echo as an 8 year old, and has spent over 20
years attending and working at camps. He previously worked
in various roles at Camp Echo and Camp Hi-Rock, and has been the
director of Camp Abnaki since 2003.
Jon met his wife Tammy while studying
education at the University of Vermont. Jon and Tammy have 3
sons--Jake, Will, and Peter. The family lives in Burlington during
the school year and up at camp in the summer.

Jeremy Plane, Assistant Camp Director
Jeremy has worked at Camp Abnaki for 15
years in various capacities. His first camp experience was as an 8
year old at a day camp in Davis, California. He regrets not
attending resident camp as a youth. Jeremy is the recipient of the
1999 Spirit of Camp Abnaki award.
Jeremy studied Elementary Education at the
University of Vermont. His passions include Frisbee golf, reading,
listening to music, trivia, and spending time with friends. He is
known for his groan-inducing puns, and loves Scrabble.

David Dustin, Program Director
David
first attended Camp Abnaki in 1996. David has come through the
ranks at camp as a camper, CIT, Counselor, and Village Director, becoming the
Program Director in 2008. David is a previous winner of the Spirit of
Camp Abnaki award.
Originally from Keene, New Hampshire, David
graduated from Champlain College in 2009 with a degree in Secondary
Education, and currently works as a high school teacher in New Hampshire. David enjoys dodgeball, Star Trek, and spending time
with his family.

Kelly Spicer,
Waterfront Director Kelly is
in her second summer as Camp Abnaki's Waterfront Director after serving
as the Assistant Waterfront Director in 2009. Kelly has an
extensive background in water safety and swim instruction. Kelly
is a 2011 graduate of SUNY Brockport with a degree in nursing.
Kelly enjoys soccer, rugby, and
spending time with friends when she's not at camp. Prior to arriving at
camp in 2012, she'll be spending some time traveling in Europe.
Kelly has also worked as the interim Aquatics Director at the Westside
YMCA in Rochester, NY.

Village Directors:
Tom Wright: A
Senior Counselor for two years, Tom has proven himself a capable staff
leader. Tom hails from England, where his passions include cricket
and coaching soccer.
Jarid Raftery:
Jarid is a long time Abnaki camper and staff member. Jarid is
currently finishing his 2nd year at Pace University in New York.
He was the recipient of the 2011 Spirit of Camp Abnaki Award.
Ethan Simmons:
Ethan has worked as a counselor at Camp Abnaki for several years.
He is working to turn his passion for photography into a career,
studying photography at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. |
